Interactive seminar conducted with Uzbek rainfed grain farmers

07 May 2019 - In scope of the project KlimALEZ, IAMO researchers have been organizing a series of extension seminars for local farmers in the province of Jizzakh, Uzbekistan, this April.

A team of IAMO PostDocs and PhD students conducted interactive workshops with over 200 farmers in rainfed grain production on risk management and agricultural investment. The aim was to gain insight into farmers’ understanding of and interest in management of drought-related risk and inform about risk management options. The sample township is at the same time selected for an undergoing pilot of agricultural insurance and will be visited repeatedly in the upcoming years to study developments toward the modernization of agriculture and its resilience against climatic change.
